Each year, the partners on the RIght From the Start Campaign, in partnership with ZERO TO THREE, organize a major advocacy event to connect dozens of Rhode Island families with babies and toddlers to their legislators and statewide leaders in the Rhode Island State House. Strolling Thunder brings national attention to what babies—and families—need to thrive.

Prior to the pandemic, Strolling Thunder meant a large turnout of advocates gathered and strolled through downtown Providence, arriving at the State House together to meet with their legislators and share their personal stories. The day was a rally in support of policies which benefit Rhode Island families with young children and the crucial services that they depend on, such as child care centers and early intervention.

For the past two years, Strolling Thunder has used virtual tools to create these connections—hosting virtual rallies, organizing social media campaigns, and connecting advocates one-on-one with their legislators via video conference.

If you have a story you’d like to share and help us advocate for policies and funding to help families with young children (affordable, reliable, quality child care, paid family leave, etc.), we hope you’ll join us for our next Strolling Thunder. Please sign up here for updates or email us at strollingthunder@rikidscount.org if you have any questions.
